From the Principal

Mr. Alberto Aleman, Principal

Welcome to our 2011-12  academic year!

Dear Students / Parents,

I sincerely hope that you have had a restful summer.  Our summer vacation allows for trips, travel, recreation, rest and rejuvenation.  May you have lasting memories of time well spent!

We are in the process of getting our outstanding campus ready for the opening day of school.  Student / Teacher schedules are being finalized as well as all the details for the 2011-2012 academic year.  Our fall athletics teams and organizations are beginning their practices and we are looking forward to another championship year.

We are extremely proud of all the efforts by our students, teachers, and staff at United High School.  We have received a "Recognized" rating by TEA which will be good for the next two years.  We have also met the AYP standard!  Congratulations to all of you who have worked so hard in improving the academic achievement of our students and maintaining a "Recognized" rating for the past three years.  We take pride in our accomplishments. As our new accountability assessment, STAAR, is phased in, we will continue with our high expectations for student achievement.  We will continure to utilize research proven strategies to improve our delivery of instruction.  At United High School our "Tradition of Excellence" will continually be improved upon through Communication, Collaboration and Innovation in Education.

I look forward to meeting our student body on our opening day of school.  Students plan on visiting with your academic counselor to ensure you follow your desired graduation plan.  Plan for  a successful future with a solid academic foundation at Laredo's "Recognized" High School - United High School!

Alberto Aleman, Jr.
